EIP Storage is planning to install a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in the Town of Greig within a few years. The Town and County were first briefed in 2023 about the project. They have continued to pursue the needed licenses and permits and they feel it is time to disclose the details of the project to the public.
EIP will be mailing information and holding public briefings in the near future. The project is expected to be in place by 2030.
The Town and County have taken actions to address concerns about public safety and benefits for taxpayers. The Town Board will be sure to provide notice of meetings with EIP as they move forward through the process.
Town Hall AED
Thanks to the Larry Virkler Memorial Fund, the Town of Greig now has an AED in place within the lobby of the Town Hall Building. The outer door to the Town Hall building will remain unlocked, allowing anyone in need to access it at any time. The AED has built-in audio instructions that describe its operation.

Public Permissive Referendum
The Greig Town Board resolved at the May 2025 meeting to move a total, not to exceed $8000, from the Building Maintenance Capital Reserve Fund. The funds will be used to purchase new Door Locks and a Camera System. These will be installed in the Town Hall and Highway Garage buildings. They will increase security for employees and equipment. Resolution shall take effect 30 days after adoption, unless the public files a petition signed by 5% of the property owners, or 100 owners, whichever is less, to require a public referendum as defined by Town Law. This resolution may be viewed at the Clerk's Office during regular business hours.
